Chemical Anchors: Strength and Adhesion for Your Fixings

In construction and renovation projects, a reliable and durable fixing is essential. Fixing solutions are broadly divided into two main types: mechanical and chemical anchors. Mechanical anchors, such as wedge anchors, rely on expansion when tightened. Chemical anchoring, on the other hand, is a modern and versatile method that provides exceptionally strong and durable adhesion to a wide range of materials.

What is chemical anchoring?

Chemical anchoring is a process where a 2-component injection mortar is dispensed into a drilled hole, after which a metal anchor, such as an anchor stud or rebar, is twisted into the hole. The mortar cures through a chemical reaction, forming an incredibly strong, stress-free bond between the anchor and the surrounding material. This makes it an ideal solution for challenging fixings, for example, in cracked concrete or weaker materials like hollow bricks.

Sormat's Chemical Anchoring Solutions

Sormat offers a wide range of chemical injection mortars tested for Northern conditions, with comprehensive ETA approvals and CE markings, catering to the needs of both professionals and DIY enthusiasts.

  • ITH-Ve (Vinylester): A versatile and efficient vinylester mortar suitable for numerous applications, such as anchoring heavy steel structures and railings in both cracked and non-cracked concrete. It can also be used in wet conditions and even underwater.
  • ITH-Wi (Winter Vinylester): When the temperature drops, ITH-Wi is the right choice. This mortar is specially designed for cold installation conditions and can be used in temperatures as low as -20°C, ensuring fast curing and a strong hold in winter projects.
  • Multifix SE 1000 Seismic (Epoxy): The professional's choice for safety-critical and highly demanding applications requiring top-class performance and ETA approval. This epoxy mortar is suitable for heavy loads, diamond-drilled holes, and underwater anchorings in, for example, infrastructure and power plant construction.

By choosing a Sormat chemical anchor, you can be sure that your fixing is tested to be durable and reliable.
