How to mount a flat screen TV to the block wall
Walls built of lightweight concrete and lightweight gravel blocks are challenging mounting bases due to their porosity and low compressive strength. The choice of fastener is influenced by the thickness and density of the ingot wall. We recommend using the longest possible bracket for mounting.
Lightweight gravel block wall (eg LECA®)
Depending on the wall thickness, suitable fasteners include Sormat’s NAT 8 L and NAT 10 L nylon plugs, KBTM lightweight concrete plug and KBRM lightweight concrete screw.
Lightweight concrete block wall (eg Siporex)
Depending on the wall thickness, suitable fasteners include Sormat’s NAT 8 L and NAT 10 L nylon plugs, KBT nylon aerated concrete plug and KBRM aerated concrete screw.
Installation of NAT 8 L and NAT 10 L nylon plugs::
Determine the correct position of the stand and mark the locations of the mounting holes with a pen on the mounting base. Use a roll measure and a spirit leve to make sure the TV comes straight. Drill a hole in the ingot using a good quality concrete drill bit and without the impact function. TIP! Basic rule for drilling depth: plug length or concrete screw length (L) + 5 mm. Plug installation: Tap the plugs into the drill holes with a hammer and align the mounting holes on the stand. Use cap screws, the suitable length is the length of the plug (L) + the thickness of the base of the stand + 5 mm. Secure the stand base to the wall with screws.
KBT – installation of lightweight concrete plugs:
Drill the hole according to the installation instructions on the product package. Install the plug with an Allen key or a special installation tool. Suitable screws are dome-headed universal and wood screws as well as screws with a metric thread. Screw sizes can be found in the product packaging.
KBTM – installation of metal aerated concrete plugs:
Drill the hole according to the installation instructions on the product package. Install the plug with an Allen key or a special installation tool. Suitable screws are domed screws with a metric thread, so-called machine screws. Screw sizes can be found in the product packaging.
KBRM P-lightweight concrete screw installation:
If the diameter of the mounting holes are min. 8 mm, the KBRM P can also be used for the installation of the stand. The choice of the screw is influenced by the thickness of the block wall. We recommend using the longest possible screw for mounting. KBRM P must be installed at a depth of at least 60 mm. KBRM Install with a cordless drill directly through the base of the wall bracket, without pre-drilling and plugs.
